April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball player in the US She is one of a small category of females who have been awarded medals at multiple Olympics. The American will play in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman who is a first time Olympian. Ross would like to do something more than just her first Olympic medal. As she turns 39, it could be Ross' final chance to take home an Olympic gold medal. She's still feeling confident, however. Ross said on NBC Boston that he believes If they can play at their absolute highest, or play a great game, we'll be in the running for gold. Then I will also take some chances. Ross was born August 22nd, 1982 located in Costa Mesa California. She lived there with her family. Ross competed in many activities while at Newport Harbor High School. As a student-athlete she also participated in indoor track and volleyball. It was clear that she was superior player in this latter game. At the time of her time at the high school level According to her university profile, she played the roles of an outside blocker, middle blocker player, and setter. Her efforts were recognized by her being named the 1999 Gatorade's Circle of Champions' National Players of the Year. In addition, she was awarded the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. While Ross and Klineman have been playing together since the year 2017, Klineman had already been a major star on the beach long before their pairing. In reality, she was the winner of several major championships while playing with two different partners, one of whom is famous for her volleyball skills. From 2007 until 2013, she was teaming with Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Kessy and Ross were extremely successful on the international circuit, winning a 2009 world title together. The duo eventually captured an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor took home gold ahead of them. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. In 2016, the two won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Following high school, and for a few some time before hitting the beach as a professional Ross made her debut for the USC Trojans as university. Ross's time in the Trojans was stellar. In 2000, she was selected Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year. She was also named an All-American. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans get to in the Final Four. Her sophomore season was the year she went through a heartbreaking personal loss but still able to be named an All-American. In her two final years playing for the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them achieve consecutive championships. In her own way She established her spot in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the top female college player of the year in America. Ross was an major in international relations at USC. However, Ross mother Margie didn't get to watch her daughter ascend to the very top of beach volleyball superstardom. When Ross was a sophomore in USC her mother passed away of cancer of the breast. She still cherishes her parents who passed away. Margie is an ever-present source of inspiration for her, in and out of the water.
